Background

The SYMBERED project builds on results from the European WWAAC project. The WWAAC Concept Coding Framework (CCF) is a suggested standard for managing concept based language material in Internet services. The CCF is under development by the Concept Coding Interest Group in co-ordination with parties in the Semantic Web activity within the World Wide Web consortium. The SYMBERED project is working in close co-operation with the CCF efforts in the UK and elsewhere.

The SYMBERED editing tool will be tested through producing a number of plain text books/stories with concept/symbol support. These documents will first be published on a symbol supported project website, and later on the Papunet site and possibly others. The resulting resources from SYMBERED will be marketed as a product together with accompanying services in collaboration with commercial and non-commercial partners.
